The governing body would like to thank all parents and carers who took the time to respond to the parent questionnaire. Your feedback is valuable to us and helps us steer the school in a positive direction.
We are pleased that you feel the school is a safe place for your children and that you believe they are being taught well. We are also pleased that you would recommend our school to another parent.
As highlighted by the questionnaire, the largest area for the ‘disagree’ response came towards whether children are receiving appropriate homework. Based on the October 2014 feedback, the teaching staff modified the homework to be more inclusive of a wider range of talents and interests.
We firmly believe that spellings and times-tables homework, at the age related expectations of the National Curriculum, are appropriate and reasonable. The topic homework, which is broader in scope allows children to complete activities in the areas of Geography, Computing, History etc. These tasks provide an opportunity for you and your children to work together on projects. Additionally, your feedback indicated a desire for websites or electronic homework opportunities. The school has subsequently invested in Purple Mash, MyMaths and SumDog which will enable children to continue their learning at home.
The governing body wishes to acknowledge the 19% ‘Don’t know’ response to ‘the school deals effectively with bullying’. The new anti-bullying policy sets out the ways in which children and staff resolve any bullying incidents at our school. As a governing body we are confident that the Headteacher and staff take any bullying allegations seriously and that any incidents are dealt with quickly.
Once again, thank-you for all your feedback.
