Sport is a vital aspect of life at Chadwell St. Mary Primary.
Over the course of an academic year, each child will have the opportunity to satisfy the statutory requirements of the 2014 National Curriculum for Physical Education.
Having identified that swimming is a particular area of need for many of our pupils we have increased professional tuition so that children have double the number of lessons that were previously offered. Children swim in Years 4 and 5.
Of the year 10 children four have met the expected standard of being able to swim 25metres.
However, the class were mostly non-swimmers and have made progress, some of the children had never been in a swimming pool.
Now, they all have the confidence to get into the pool and float. The majority of the class are able to swim at least 12.5metres, with good technique, both on their front and back.
